For a near-first effort this is quite good. You've gotten some of the basic ideas about shading and highlighting, and chosen a good set of contrasting colors that really make the piece come more alive. To improve. pay much more atention to shading, to highlighting, and to basing, although that's not quite so critical to me. It may be because of the darkness of your photo, but most of the figure looks fairly flat in terms of shading and highlighting. The "hand" and "wrist" portions of the wings look good, but the rest of the bones really don't show much attempt to define their cylindrical nature. There's some highlighting on the wings, but again, they're pretty flat. And do get better exposures---it's very hard to look into this fairly shadowy image and see all of your hard work.
