i think this dread is very well done - with one exception - i dont like the weathering, it seems painted on by cyril instead of chipped off. take a look at the "glowing eyes" article under techniques. it has some good tips for weathering which can be used on a larger scale. "painting freehand notches" is good too - just add a third layer of metalics to represent the underlying metal.
