Arran Rabin, Conjuror

This figure was painted for the Works of Heart campaign and generously donated by Vikinglodge and in fact was a Reaper DYOM by Vikinglodge. I attempted a more bold highlighting style then i normally do but personally find it much to stark for my taste but something i will attempt to correct in the future. I wanted the cloak to stay rather dark but wanted it to stand out so i attempted some rare freehand from myself.

Hi Onis Lair, this paint job does look a bit weird as the colours don't fit together very well, it would have helped to mute them a bit by mixing them with grey or vanilla. Like this, the contrast is high but not harmonic. Concerning the highlights: The blue looks nice and so does the base colour of the cloak, but the other parts could have liked some more layers (try diluting your paint). While the skin has turned out nicely, The contrast between the flames and the base colour of the cloak is too high in my opinion. You can use contrasting colours, but not too many at once. Two is enough most times. You know, now it doesn't like like your miniature has a theme. But for a good paint job you need a good theme and "composition", this is obligatory. Finally I'd like to give you an advise: Blacklining helps to get definition. Of course, it's not the best technique to get a Golden Demon but it's a good method to get a clean mini in a fast way. I hope I could help you a bit! Cheers -Salvador
