This is my first painted mini and i'm looking for some honest to goodness advice. I figured i'd begin with something quite simple and i'm hoping to show improvement with each successive figure. My next figure is going to be Be'lakor The Dark Master. Hopefully i'll have learned a few lessons from this first attempt.

Bad angle for a picture but It looks alright from what I can see, nothing spectacular but a good starting point, better thamn most. The base is a bit bland try inks and drybrushes and static grass and also the sand dosen't go all the way to the edge which lets it down. Also it looks a bit shiney, have you gloss varnished it or is it just inks? Anyway use matte varnish from vallejo which is really good, protectes your model and dries matt. Hopefully that has helped you and I am looking foward to seeing some more of your models. Matt.
