Ultramarine Chaplain

This was inspired by the artwork of Cassius in the new Space Marine Codex. I wanted to do the whole scene as a diorama, but time went by too fast and I decided to finish him as a single miniature. I sculpted a lot of it myself, like the whole breast plate (except the skull, I was too afraid there, but I should have tried it) including the eagle symbol below his chin, both the arms, most of the feet, all purity seals (the sigils show small skulls each), the crozius (except the skull in the middle, same problem as on the breast plate), the laurels on the UM sign and on the exhaust thingies on the backpack (which was modified after an artwork from the Black Templar codex). The mouth got a little love too, I dont know if it was just a moulding accident on mine but he's now screaming and has more defined teeth and lips and he received a scar on his cheeckbone and over the eye. I took him with me to the Italian Golden DEmon, but like so many he got moved to the open because the base was too large. Unfortunately I was a little pissed of and after a quarrel with the judge it ended up in the 40k "monster" category, which turned into a killer category by all the 40mm based entries that should have been in 40k single and left 40k single a comparably low quality one (hope I dont offend anyone...). Shit happens :) He made first cut but obviously didnt place. Congratulations to all the winers in the category :)

I think this model is awesome, i love everything about it. I like how it is blue, a change from the black chaplains, i think i will do my ultramarine chaplain blue too. at the end of the day you can paint it what ever colour you want, its sci fi and not real after all and nothing says chaplains always wear black armour
