Mordheim Skaven warband

Hi everybody! For these vermin i wanted to try the infamous "dipping" technique. I wasn't succesful in finding the right dip on the swedish market, Instead I got desperate in the hardware store that i was looking for dip's to try. Long story short, I walked away with water based wood stain (one that should protect the wood and give it a nice glaze of semi dark oak), Oh and it was in powder form stored in a bag, label read that it was to be mixed with hot water, Then left to cool. I dusted of some old minis to experiment with, Found a bunch of rats! sweet, I thougt! This will make a kool Mordheim warband in a jiffy! Primed all models with GW's Skull white, Basecoated mostly with GW's Bleached bone foh' da cloth's n' stuffz, Then I used Elf flesh for skin, Snake bite leather for woods, Bestial brown for fur, Metallics in Mithril feh' basicly you want it to get really bright cuz' the dip was going to darken' all colors when it set (Atleast it should do that) So I used the brightest colors i had in store. Now to the intresting stuff; DIPPIT' ALLREADY! So I dipped; First off was a old stormvermin i got from my cousin'! But that old rat aint' gonna be in my band of warphunters, Beacuse he looked like crap, his cloth was scorpion green! Well the dip diden't settle like expected, First I thought it rocked!, That was when I had just dipped the first one (stormvermin/green mean ugli machine) and the dip wasn't dry. The problem I saw later on (like after 5 hr's of playing Battlefield 2) Consisted in like what i would like to call a complete dip in a darkbrown glaze (Dip no want to stay in places me wanted to), Something with the surface tension, i think. Anyhow, Like i said before, It is a water based product, So as soon as I discovered the tragic fate of the old rugged stormvermin I tried to brush it of with water, And voilá it came of! hooray I thought now I can save the ugli mess I made, But as I started to brush away the layer of woodstain it striked me... This can be pretty nice! Yes, indeed it looked pretty nice, I started to wipe away the layer of stain from just the tops of the model and leaving the stain were it belongs in the creases and cornes of the figurine (Like invards highlightning!) And now we are here, This warband I executed with this very technique I just discribed, And it is all done with reasonable speed I might add!, This gang was done in 3 short sessions in about three days :), At least thats pretty fast for me. But for the painting standard that it keeps, Pretty fair amount of time don't you think? Well that was my try on the infamous "dippin''-technique! Not the result you want when dipping correctly, but this works for me, someday when i start my "Nidz" the dipping gonna be further explored... untill then, Cheers!//Lord Albert

From this distance they look just like the skaven should look like. But if you post better, closer pic I`ll tell you more. I`m very curious about effects of this method but there is hard to say if it is so small..
