Praetorian Conversion

These are unpainted shots of my second attempt with green stuff. I'm really crap at converting metal miniatures, but wanted to do so much more with the Praetorian guardsmen. So I thought I'd have a go at converting my own. This is based on a Cadian, but the torso and helmet have been completely reworked. Started with a fairly simple model, this one will go into the command squad. Now I know it's possible I'm going to try a few more fancy ideas, including my senior officer. It's intended more as a "don't shoot until you see the greens of their eyes, boys" type shot, rather than sighting down the barrel, but the left arm perhaps could have done with a little more tweaking. I'm going to put up the painted version too, but alas my painting skills leave a lot to be desired so I wanted people to see the unfettered version too. Any feedback most greatfully appreciated.. I've got an army to do of these guys and need all the input I can get! Cheers, Si

That paint job is horrible! Kidding. I like the olde timey helmet he's got on.

Does look a like a job well done, especially nice work on the Pith Helmet and Tunic. I've been working on something quite similar actually building Praetorian Grenadiers based on the Cadian plastics. The only thing I find distracting about the model is its left arm, it seems abnormally long, that takes it down a a 6 for me I'm afraid, corrected would be pushing towards an 8 I think.

Think that your paintjob didnt do the work you put into the sculpt justice. Nice clean pith and coat.
