Keratis 1

Imagine walking along a corridor in a Hybrid Lab. The floor gives way to reveal these wooden posts and metal spikes, and the only way onward is from post top to post top. Then a Keratis warrior gets in the way. That's the base i was working towards. This mini took 15hrs (not incl base). For the halberd, I tried to copy Rackham's paintjob of a halberd for Cypher Lukan 2nd Inc. It didn't work out. I also tried to mimic Rackham's colours on their clone's armour. Dark greyish, with a hint of purple. I still can't get it right. The bottom of the cloak looks that way (ragged) because that's how the sculpt is. He also looks awkward on the posts because he had to be pinned through his heels (8mm right protrusion, 4mm left) and not the ball of his feet (too tricky and not robust). it was tricky enough having the long pins run parallel down into the plastic beams.

Good paint job on the model but not taken with the base. Main critism is that if you are on posts like this you don't balance on your heals but on the balls of your feet. Try it... you'll fall over.

thanks Xizor. hehe, you wont like all my other Dirz bases then, as they all overhang. Hi Antar000, yeah the rust is way off the dull colour i wanted. i had to pin both legs as the mini will experience lots of usage. the halberd is straight, its just an optical illusion ;-)

what you could've done is to pin through one leg, and then place the ball of his foot on another post behind him. I just sort of stood on a chair to get the feeling right and it seems to be how one would actually move. But it's nice, though the halberd blade is a bit wonky: the rust is too red.
