The mini shows you have the skills, but as others have said, there are a few things that mean this mini doesn't work as a whole. The problem with the blue source lighting is primarily that it is darker than the surrounding gold nmm. Source lighting works when you add light coloured highlights to a darker and generally more subdued base scheme. Also, as others have mentioned... the horizon lines on the nmm need to be consistent... find some photos of polished metal objects to base it on... the legs for a start are cylindrical and you don't get horizontal colour delineations on a vertical cylinder like that. It is also a bit busy for my liking.... far too many colours. But, the quality of the painting is very high.

exquisit painting and a really nice comversion; however like some others have siad it's to "busy" for my tastes. However it is a great show of your talents, and if you like it who cares what anyone else thinks anyway. top job

This all looks very good, but actually, it's really really too busy. It's really hard to differentiate the differents elements of the piece. Especially on the legs. There, I can't understand at all what's going on. The source lighting is way too strong as well. It would be much more diffuse if the claw were to lighten the armor. Next thing, on the dreadnough itself, the horizons lines are quite strange on the front piece.... Given the inclination of those parts they'd reflect only the sky. Technical aspect next, blendings are rough on the reds. Especially on the top half of the standard. There are rough as well on some parts of your gold NMM, but way less. Last thing, it's a pity you painted the border of the base golin green... It adds another color to a mini that's already busy, and therefore confuses even more the base. Black is neutral, won't distranct the attention of the viewer. Well, those points being said, it's a nice job nonetheless. :). I hope you'll take this as it's meant, that's to say constructive criticism... It's in no way meant to be destructive :).
