Elmore Masterworks #7 - Female Vrykyl

Another commission piece. The sword is my second attempt at NMM. The purple armor I was trying to make look something like iron or maybe lacquered armor. I like it, anyway - I didn't want to go with the silver/gold example from the box, partially because it's been done, and partially because I don't think I could pull it off as well as Verzani did.. :) All those pale colors don't photograph very well. The hair, in particular, is a bit washed out.. sigh..

(7.5-8) Very nice, but the armour needs more contrast - especially between different plates. As it is, it looks like a one-piece statue. The face and hair are fantastic though.

I've been watching your work for a while, and I have to agree with Jim (from Dark Sword); your work is continually improving, and it really shows on pieces like this. The face details look fantastic, but the armor falls a bit short of the mark for me. I think you could have gone another couple of shades brighter with the white, going for a more dynamic transition to the purple in the deeper recesses of the armor - something to convey the glossy appearance associated with the "enameled" look. Some definition between the helm and the rest of the body would have been nice too. I like the choice of the snow base for this; she's one "cool" customer. You really deserve more like a 7.5. :)

The armor is great; love the contrast with the hair!
