Mumen Ships...
The Mumen are genetic horrors. When the first Mumen ships were encountered they were carefully greated as friends. The vessel was remarkably similar to the known Gris ships and it was hoped that the somewhat strained relation with the Gris could somehow be improved. The crew of the EU Science Scout Intrepid sent an away party to the ship and by all accounts things were going well until the Sergeant of the landing party, (Aaron Travers #523-AB334;KIA), was suddenly ingested in bizarre phagocytosis by the Mumen 'ambassador'. A running battle ensued and the remaining crew withdrew to their ship. The Sergeant was reported KIA. Several days later the Intrepid was confronted by a Mumen warship- and they were hailed by something claiming to be Sgt. Travers. As near as could be determined the 'man' was Aaron Travers but he seemed oddly enchanted with bringing his new Mumen friends aboard the scout. Travers commanded the Intrepid's captain (Larry Larson #347-A356) to prepare to be boarded. Captain Larson refused and the Mumen attacked. If not for the timely arrival of the Cruiser Vengeful Spirit the Intrepid would likely have been lost with all hands- or worse, the entire crew replaced.
