The paint is neatly applied, you've worked on some shading and keeping elements visually separate, and the colour scheme is solid, so you have a good foundation here. I'm guessing a lot of people are marking you down for the huge staring eyes. Try doing the eyes first. Do what you did, then draw a border around the whites of the eye with a dark brown, then clean that up when you apply your skin colour. There are several alternate methods of doing eyes, so if that one doesn't work, just pop on the forums and ask for ideas. But doing eyes first lets you do that over a couple of times without ruining any work you've done on the rest of the face. Also if you target your washes and their colours, that will look a little cleaner. Like use a mid brown to shade the flesh and orange parts and a darker brown to shade the boots, black on the cloak, that sort of thing.
