Huge improvement over the photo of the other side I originally commented on. I guessed a point or so higher on that vote, and now I can see the painting does deserve an 8 for sure. The blends between the purple and blue on the head and tail are very nice, and I like the rich colour selection. The NMM blends are a little rougher, but blends in gray are hard. I know Rackham places their studio miniatures on a black base. I'm not opposed to a plain base on occasion, but I think a more neutral colour, sand maybe, would keep more focus on the paint job. Or at least neaten up the black base a little. ;-> Put him on a base that gives him a suitable sense of scene, and I'd happily raise my vote.
7.5, really. * for the painting, but -0.5 for bad pic. Photo is quite good, but you need to crop it and balance the colours (your "white" is almost ivory on my monitor). Interesting colours and realy nice paintjob on a very ugly (IMO) model.
