Balrog of Morgoth (work in progress)

This is a Balrog of Morgoth, which is STILL not finished yet!! I've lost count how many times I've gone back to it, painted up around a particular 'scale' with red, oranges and yellow up into white. It is still a way to go yet, but had to get him based up to use in games. His face has a lot more to be done on the horns and his tongue. I've tried to add 'cracks' in his wings, which as you can see are at the orange stage of the sequence. I've had a look at some of the fantastic work by victoria and would love to try her light effect on the base, but lets get the ruddy scales sorted first eh?!!! Balrogs, yes there were (are) more than one, were created by Morgoth. He was the first dark lord who actually created Sauron to be one of his servants. The Balrogs were made to wage war on Morgoth's bretheren, the Ainur, who were the first creations made by Iluvatar - god of Middle Earth, in a time before the coming of men and elves. They are very old and very nasty bits of work indeed!

Looking good this :) Sauron wasn't created by Melkor, he was a maia that was Melkor's lieutenant but yeah ^_^. Seems to need more yellow in the fiery stuff to me.
