I also use a scanner to take pics of my mini's. Don't expect great quality but here's my trick to make the best out of it: put a white tupperware (or another white plastic box you usually use to store food in) box on top of the model when scanning. And also try to put your mini straight. I scan at 200%, when you go higher, the details become blurry.
