Hi! You're right about the osl - I think the problem is that the light reflecting from the gem looks lighter than the gem itself, probably due to the light colour you drybrushed over. I'd recommend brightening up the gem quite a lot, and everything will probably fall into place. Also, you seem to have painted the lense on the scarab the wrong way round: if it is in fact a lense, then the lighter colours should go on the bottom, the darker on top, with a small dab of white in the centre of the darker area. Apart from that, good work :-)
