Roaric, Hero of Yore

I painted this mini as both the Grand Master in my Daemonhunters army and as an entry in the Youngbloods category of the Baltimore Golden Demon 2006. It took Bronze. At the time, this was the best mini I had painted and still is better then most. Please note that I was NOT trying to do NMM - It was supposed to be grey armor. The exact bitz I needed were bought peice-by-peice off the GW online store and assembled. I used a fair bit of greenstuff to really make the base look "daemonic" including adding a cleaved-open daemon. The loincloth was made from a Throne of Judgement banner that was filed thin and cut and bent to shape. I should have watered the paint down a lot more, and paid more attention to shading. They only took one picture, but he has a large scroll with inscription on his back. The text on the scrolls was done with a fine-point artists pen. Whether or not I can paint better now, this model is still my pride and joy ^_^

Hahaha - Sharp, pointy goblin! I know what ill be calling it from now on... Aye - I used the same colors on the rocks and base as I did on his armor :/ My bad! Im also quite irked that I forgot to paint the nail in that banner... dammit!

Looks great, I like the aesthetics of the model, with the halo and two banner poles, it creates a nice silohuette to the model if you see what I mean. The only thing I would say would be to put a slight amount of black at the top of the flames, and to add more yellow and add white to the flame inside the brazier - as it is hot at the center. At the moment it looks a bit too red all over. Also, perhaps you should have chosen a darker grey for the rock as it too similar to the armout IMO. Anyway, great model and congrats on the demon ( i mean, sharp pointy goblin...) :)
