Angel Of Mercy

This was my fifth mini ever painted, and I probably bit off more than I should have. Anyway, I figured I'd put it out there to maybe inspire someone else. There's no base here because I've just started. The concept was pretty simple, transparent wings. But I wanted them to be totally transparent and not opaque. So, some gold trim around where the wing feathers edges are. Throw in some puffy clouds, paint the shoulders showing through and that's it. I really rushed the robe and face, so it shows. I'd just spent so much time with the wings and found the other parts boring. Just wanted to skip on to something else at that point. If she's lucky, I may come back later on and try something more ambitious on the robe. Maybe a complex pattern or such thing.

I agree with Wren. Damn, but that's ambitious. Much respect!

Wow, this is a nice paint job for only a fifth mini, and a very ambitious idea period. It'd be interesting to try photographing or photoshopping her against a cloudy sky background. I think the transparency effect in the shoulder areas is pretty well done. You look to have good paint control. The placement of highlights on the dress is good, but the highlights themselves are a little too stark and need more of a gentle transition from the mid-red to the bright spots. But that's something people who've painted more than 5 minis can have problems with, so I still think you're ahead of the game!
