I actually like this kind of shading. When done well it can really look cool. GW artists used it predominantly in their Warhammer Skirmishes scenario book. It looks very attractive when you have a whole group of models done this way. Still, I think your colors move from dark to light too quickly. IMO, you need to have more subtle layers. For example, a lighter base color would have done wonders. As it is the switch from deep brown to nearly white is too much. No living thing has such contrasts. The areas that you have shaded are good, just go for more subtle color changes.
Not bad, but i think light and shadow need more diffrent layer. Thin the color and mix it step by step little bit more brightly and on the other side more darkley.
