Goblin Barbarian (Tropical)

What started out as an attempt to have an Amazon-ish goblin has turned out to be more of a tropical goblin. Either way works I suppose. Attempted to make the details on his shield appear as pieces of jade, and used an orange skin tone to make him look more like he belonged. (5) I imagine he's standing at the water's edge, frustrated that the treasure hunter just made off with the village idol, wishing he hadn't left his bow back at the hut. I was going to try to make some boot prints in the sand, but didn't feel I could do that just yet. The base was made using plaster of paris and white glue. As my first attempt at basing, I was just playing around and didn't want to purchase any additional things just yet. The plaster of paris actually warped the wooden disk, so if I do this again I'd probably glue some wax paper down first. The plaster dried really fast, so I don't think any delicate details would work, but for a sandy setting its not bad I feel. The "water" looks pretty bad. I was hoping it would dry clear, but I guess clear is subjective. Maybe if I'd tinted it to look like dirty water it would look better. Plus, if I'd made the water run straight instead of a circle it would probably look less island-like and more river-like. The tree thing is some green stuff and some aquarium plant pieces. I'm pretty happy with it and it was a fun thing to do for my first sculpt.
