Kage Dar: Cheesehead
This was my entry in "Iron Painter III: round 1" - the theme was "Flesh of a Different Color." He's a fan of American football. He's made his flesh a different color: he's painted his whole body green and yellow to show his support for his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. As you probably know I like to take the militant minis and convert them into modern world, non-violent themes. Lately I've been using sports themes. KD seemed so obvious when I looked at him that he should have a giant foam finger instead of a sword. This could be done with any team but the cheesehead fans of the Packers seemed so recognizable they were the clear first choice. I've had the idea for a while and the theme of the comp gave me incentive to do it. I've had lots of fun, and learned that the specific coca cola swoosh is kind of hard to make. Some details were very small. For instance he's wearing a rune-stone around his neck with the Ogham symbol for Oak. I did paint script "Coca-Cola" on the other side of the cup but it was impossible to read and kind of sloppy. The cup is made of Cernit, rolled into a cone, truncated, with a metal pin in the end for a straw. He has the Green Bay logo painted on both sides of the hand, both sides of the penant at his hip (which was converted from an axe) and on the back of the bleachers. The purple bag on his belt is one of those you get with Crown Royal Whiskey, complete with gold piping and the gold letters Cr barely visible poking from behind the penant.
