VC wight lord

hey, i was planning on entering this model for my local hobby store's painting contest. i am a youngblood, so maybe theres a chance i'll win. also, depending on how wel people like this model, i may enter it in the youngblood golden demon category at GD los angeles

Beautiful. I really love the material on the base (Or the way you painted it.) The skeletons are a nice touch too =) I'd recommend using successive highlighting for the cloak, where you paint the base color on and then keep highlighting that color with white (or a color that lightens it to your preference). Right now the darker areas aren't very well defined, and neither are the higher areas, which I think is what gives it that kind of patchy look. More washes would make it look better if you used a matte varnish to get the shine away.

oh, and also, the actual model doesnt look as bright, so the red wings and stuff is actually somewhat dark

thanks so much for replying and giving me some tips. the only reason i held off on highlighting the bones on the armor, is cause i didnt want it to look too much like the actual wight. but maybe it'll look different cause theres a wash. also, to patch up the cloak and stuff, should i highlight some more or shade it by washing? thanks again
