the transitions feel too harsh to the eye. a combination of thinner paint and more layers to smooth out the blending would do wonders for this mini. I agree with the comment about the non metallic metal, it is a fun technique that has revolutionized my painting. once you get the hang of it you wont go back. :)
Maybe for your next piece try NMM. Would defiantly have pushed it up to a 7 or 8 even with some nice nmm work on it, failing that the gold skull above his head is very strong compared to the colors in the rest of the piece and as such draws focus, try doing the final highlight of your golds with some silver (sorry if you have already, make it stronger) just to dull it a little and draw focus back to the rest of the minni
