Converted Balrog

The balrog that I used was the older (original) metal one with the flaming sword. There were one or two things that I didn't like about the original Balrog. I didn't like the posture so I cut both legs at ankle and knee and made him stand a bit taller. I cut the torso and lengthened the body adding a bit of a twist. And I lengthened the neck while repositioning the head. The sword was replaced with a home made whip which was sculpted around a length of "memory wire", the arms were moved and modified to give a more dynamic pose. The original wings were (in my opinion) way too big and look fine on a Felbeast but not on a Balrog, so I used a pair of metal wings that belong to "Galrauch, First of the Chaos Dragons". (Warhammer Fantasy parts #020114105 & #020114106 if anyone wants specifics) The new wings were heavily modified adding extra flame effects and flaking skin. Once everything was put together the poor Balrog needed major muscle construction, extra flames and skin grafts over 70% of his body before being painted. Painting was meant to be "table quality" as opposed to "show quality". One last thing ... I really hate the way the 'eavy metal team paint flames - they do it totally wrong ... flames darken (red/orange) away from the heat source with the brightest area (yellow/white) where the flame is hottest. It is easier to flood the recesses with orange/red and highlight the raised parts with yellow/white but it just looks wrong.
