bloodbowl ork thrower

This is an ork thrower for a bloodbowl team that I have painted for a friend of mine. I used mostly Vallejo paints (mixture of model and game color) plus some games-workshop inks. The base for the skin was was goblin green* mixed with green ink. First highlight was with goblin green, then for each subsequent layer I added bald moon yellow* up to the highest highlight. The reds were done by basecoating with Flat Red** and then adding highlights by mixing in Dwarf Flesh***, with a final highlight of almost straight Dwarf Flesh***. Armor was done with a few different metals. I was going for a scavenged look for the orks. I didn't want everything to be identical. I think I achieved this piecemeal look. Metals used were Gun Bolt Metal**, Tinny Tin*, Copper***, and a few areas with Gun Bolt Metal** mixed with Translucent Red** for a reddish metallic. I added smoke** to the areas of Gunbolt Metal** to add an appearance of tarnish. I think it turned out well. Belts and cloth were done with the red technique from above as well as some in black with highlights of greys. Ball was done with a base of beige brown**, shadows done with brown ink, highlights done with cobra leather*. Smoke** was added to highlight to tone it down and blend it nicer. * Vallejo Game Color * Vallejo Model Color * Game-Worshop paint Comments gladly accepted. Thanks!

Interesting to note - I didn't actually use any washes. I did mix some ink with the vallejo paints but the highlights are built up from goblin green mixed with bald moon yellow increasingly to the highest highlight. Approximately 6 layers of highlighting was applied to the skin. I did use a bit of smoke to wash the ball with after applying the highlights. Thanks for your observations!
