Dark Angel Chapter Master of the Watch

One of the four new Chapter Masters painted in Dark Angel Colours....purchased at Games Day, hence the posting a week before official release. I tried out new colours for blending on the steel and the cloaks as well as a new wash on the faces to give a bit more depth. On the whole I think it works quite well. Any comments welcome.

I adore the nmm work on the axe and the gold portion of the shoulder pad, but the flesh tones look palid and the sheild is a little on the nasty side. Overall though a great looking mini, please keep posting your work!

Recipes then:- the green is Dark Angel green highlighting up using Sunburst yellow; the cloak is a base of bubonic brown highlighted up with white;the reds are a base of my own mix - a darker version of terracotta then highlighting with red gore and then blood red; the steel is a base of codex grey highlighting up with space wolf grey and then white with shading using charadon granite. For the flesh I used a very thin wash of purple ink to give a bit of extra depth and colour.

doing flesh can be easy if you do it in reverse with the right washes. matte medium mixed with a darker tone than your basecoat adn let dry do again then mix the highlight color with the matte medium to bring out softer areas. It comes out really smooth and blended very nicely. I do it for all my flesh now and it is amazing the difference. Even diseased flesh.
