Black Templar Master of Chapter #2

Instead of going for detail painting like my previous work, I go for simplicity. I use NMM gold as the focus colour to bring out the model detail. Comment & criticism needed.

you have the potential to be a lot better painter, but for some reason your not being, because when you look at the nmm it looks great, and i know its hard to do aswell, so with that, if you added a bit of depth/highliting to areas like the cloak, axe handle, face it would be way higher than it is, and i might be being picky but i never like it when people use nmm and mettalics, on the same model it doesnt look right and in my opinion it takes away the meaning of nmm, but still a good model keep it up and take the advice that weve given to you.

7.75 for me. nmm looks pretty good but the mini looks like a wip. add some hilights. it will would give you atleast an 8 if you did that. if you wanna go even further, add some depth into your tabard and cloak. right now, it just seems flat.

I hate to say it but I think your reasoning against detailing the entire model brings your score way down in the end. If the rest of the model had the same depth as the gold, it wouldn't detract from anything. I think the opposite is true, the amazing detail on the golds ends up pointing out the lack of depth everywhere else. If you treated the tabbard, backpack and handle of the hammer in the same way, this would be an 8-9 for me.
