Warrior Priest Man Eater Ogre

This was my entry for the 07 GD LA Monster Fantasy Category. He made made final cut but did not place. He was a pain in the butt to sculpt and a pain in the butt to paint. All in all I am not happy with it, but it was definately a learning experience. I learned that trying out too many new techniques at once is not a good idea, for me. Anyways hope you like it.

Realizing it's probably too late for a comment, that is just TOO BEAUTIFUL a conversion, paint job & base to let it pass without a word of praise. VERY WELL DONE!

A very nice mini, great idea and very good execution, some details are slightly problematic though; the hammer head looks very massice in relation to the thin handle, which makes the weapon look rather fragile; I also don´t think the freehand on the chest was a good idea, it´s well-done but looks very weird painted on top of bare metal I think; maybe you could have done more with the banner instead, it´s so bare.

The minis that won, in my opinion, definately deserved a trophy. It just depends on the judges preferences. The competitions are based on skill and what the judges perceive as the best in the category. Either a judge will love your style of painting or they won't.
