Master of Recruits - Chapter Master Imperial Fists

Well, I finally decided on an army. I'll probably drive myself crazy painting yellow for the next year. I'm doing all of my Chapter Masters but I'm trying some new techniques on the others so it'll take some time. I tried to make the edge of his cape look like the crenellations of a castle wall - a tribute to the seigecraft of the IF's. I repeated the design on the back. Let me know what you think.

Thank you very much for your votes and comments, I always appreciate them. I agree with veggiemanuk about too much color on the gun and the mini overall. A carry-over from painting Harlequins so long I think. ^_^. I'm actually fixing some of the elements on the mini to tone it down a bit. I'll repost when all 4 Chapter Masters are done.

Great effort, my only problem with him is that he looks a little to bussy with all those colours. This one is tricky as there are so many small details to paint and I can understand the use of colout to some extent. Yellow is such an awkward colout to paint to start with but with a mini like this one it becomes a nighmare. Backpack, the metalic rims on the exhausts and the top together with the red around the skull is to much, paint another backpack all yellow, keeping the skull and the small vents the colour they are now and compare. Gun, I can see 5 colours alone here. Id only use 1 metalic colour here and also replace the green with yellow (there seems to be no connection with marine and gun). Other than that this is a fine attempt, id just recomment to use less colours and take a look the the this coloue theory gide on CMON http://coolminiornot.com/article/aid/194/page/1
