Eldar Autarch

I feel that I really should explain this miniature. I was inspired by Thomas David’s classic Eldar Autarque. I needed a general for my eldar army and just couldn’t go past this great looking miniature. I know this is not as good as his and it is not intended as a competition piece. It took about 4 days to build and 3 to paint. This was a real challenge for me as I will be the first to admit that I am not a sculptor and it is one area that needs huge improvement. As to what I did: To build this you start with Prince Yriel. One of the most difficult parts was to remove the detail on the chest using a dremel using a tiny engraving tool. The chest was then re-sculpted using brown stuff. The shield was a lion shield that has had all the detail removed and I drilled a couple holes in it. I also had to thin it down using a very large drill bit and clean it up using emery paper. The backpack poles I used are gun barrels from two rangers. The tabard at the front was scuplted from brown stuff. The base was built using a couple of blocks from Hirst model columns and the face in the water is from a dark eldar. The head is just a dire avengers. Comments and feedback welcome.
