Archaon on foot ( limited addition )
This was done on commission for a collector and I spent more time on it than on any other miniature I've done so far. It's also the first piece I've done using only Vallejo paints and I'm thoroughly converted, I love the muted tones in the model colour range. I really tried to push myself on this mini and there were definitely a few moments of despair when I thought I would never get it, of course looking at it now there are parts I would have liked to have done better ( mainly the sword blade ) but I guess that's always the way, lol. I think that, for me, the most challenging part of this model was the fur. I wanted to do something different from the usual brown or black and I had to re-do it about three times before I was happy with it. Also the snow presented another problem, I had used GW's snow flock on a previous miniature and, although I was quite happy with it, it didn't really represent the deep compact snow I wanted. After reading through a few articles I hit on the idea of mixing the flock with PVA and Vallejo Glossy White, this gave me a white lumpy mess that was perfect for building deep snow. Anyway, ranting aside, I know I still have a lot of room for improvement so comments and criticism are very welcome.
