Archaon on foot

I tried a purple paint scheme as it's not that common for that mini. Unfortunately the green highlights on the sword are a bit washed out in the photos. Detail pics here: http://www.coolminiornot.com/190398

Yeah, coments at last! :). It always motivates me hearing other peoples' opinion on my work. The Green Man: I'm really happy you like the skulls and horns. On the skulls I went for bold highlights and strong definition, something i don't normally do. As for the horns I tried a proper layering this time (my second attempt at painting horns this way) combined with washes and glazes. I'm pleased with the result but I feel there's still room for improvement. Dan: I totally agree with you about sword and armour. I have such a fear that my highlights will be too sharp and "not blended" that I end up doing them too subtle. In real life there are subtle green highlights on the sword blade but they should be more pronounced. It seems I can only escape from too subtle highlights when painting Grots. ;) Also I borrowed the idea for the cloack (Charadon Granite basecoat with Catachan Green added for highlights) from a good friend of mine and have grown quite fond of this colour. I also used it on the ruins at the bases of my Severina and Sevora =I= scale minis.

Your photos need to be better lit. The skulls are good, and I love the horns. The shield is great too. My guess is this mini looks damn fine in real life, hence the 8, but I'm guessing cos the photo ain't perfect. It's something I'm having trouble with too. :-( (Have just taken down what I put up a while ago. Will have to find out how to get good images with tiny file size.)
