Ok will be helpful here. BEFORE you assemble it, clean the flash with a modelling knife or my preferred method, files. The planels, if you add a wash of watered down black paint in between the pannels or iuse a micron pen, that will bring the contrasts out. Try to pick up dtails like the end of gun barrels and missiles using a contrasting color, right now concentrate on one and then we can talk of more advanced things... oh and the flash does not help since it washes color away.
One of this days I am going to find AND POST my Dwarven cannon crew just to show how lousy I used to paint.. we all learn, so do not become disenchanted, and practice makes perfect.
Looks well painted? Look closer. It appears the sensors on the head are not painted, the paint on the torsoe appears sloppy, and the underside of the weapon is unfinished.
Finally, where the feet where clipped off the sprue is very visible, and there does not appear to have been any attempts to clean it up.
In fact, the black appears just to be the original primer. The work on the armour plates appears very good, and if the artist works on the other stuff I mentioned will see a dramatic improvement in the final product.
