Ltd Edition FW Slann Mage Priest

*Now on eBay!* Free worldwide shipping :D I painted this guy a while back for the 'Eavy Metal competition on Facebook, for the theme of "magic". I rushed to finish him in time, so for the past few weeks I've been gradually improving him. The base was very quick to do, but I'm quite pleased with it - more of a natural, swampy look than my usual jungle bases. It's made up of moss, coffee grounds, thyme, potting soil and various other planty things :) Like the base, I painted Mage Priest himself to look natural and realistic, drawing inspiration from the skin of various living reptiles and amphibians. The mottled effect was achieved using a wide range of colours gradually added over a white undercoat (Bubonic Brown, Shadow Grey, Catachan Green, Liche Purple, Regal Blue, Bleached Bone, Goblin Green, Dark Angels Green, Scorched Brown, Sunburst Yellow, Black, White and Blazing Orange are all in there somewhere :D). I tried to keep the cooler colours, the blues and the dark greens, to the shadowy areas, and used bright hues to accentuate his eyes to give him a tropical and exotic look despite the overall muted tones. I'm quite pleased with the zenithal lighting effect (this is most evident from the top-down photo), and with the eyes and face area. There are still small areas I'm not entirely happy with, but I think he came out pretty well. I hope you like him :) ~Bill
