Tyranid "Cthulhu" Hive Tyrant
This miniature represents the fusion of 2 of my passions : tyranids and Cthulhu mythos. I tried to make a hive tyrant inspired by the Great Old One Cthulhu from Lovecraft. I'm very happy with it, it's a terrific monster, with some worrying features (mouth on the belly, strange barrels on the back) and massive triple claws for arms and tail. In my idea, the tubes spit barbed stranglers (seeds are in sacs on the side under the carapace and feed the cannons by 2 tubes), and the tail includes a devourer. The mass of tentacles feed the belly mouth with terrorized victims. The number "3" is everywhere : Arms have "hands" composed of 2 huge blades and a small one, the tail also has a 3- bladed design, 3 pairs of eyes, groups of 3 spikes here and there... I've sculpted the plates and some features on legs, torso and head, and the wings' "arms", added features on the carapace, transformed the FW ram carapace in cannons, sculpted spore sacs on the sides, added tentacles and tubes, Please check here for more pictures, including WIP's : http://hellric.over-blog.com/album-1180460.html I hope you'll enjoy it, thanks for watching anf please comment !
