Tau Stealth Suit

Hey there, my second post. This is my Tau stealth Suit, I don't collect Tau but I just had to get a few blisters of these auesome models, heres one of the schemes, only thing which I'm hitting my head over is those dang Skull White highlights on RED!!! What was i thinking, I had scab highlight blood highlight SKULL WHITE... lol sigh I think i'll redo all the red armor bits. My first time doing like gems and I think I did very well (look at the little screen on the arm, looks great). Did some weird thing on the gun, made it look like its powering up, and on the pummel I made it look like its blue liquid inside, tried doing 2D bubbles, can't see them very well though. I think the white on the armor came out well, tried to make the highlights painted on alittle different. Hope you enjoy, I think ill try a blue scheme on me next Stealth Suit!!!

I think the blue blending on the gun is not very well blended. The base is nice and the figure is painted above average.

I agree Nick, those red areas really decreases the overall look of the model... I think the rest of the model is pretty good, I really like the beige parts of the armour, and the screens on the left arm. When I paint red areas on Tau models, I use a mix of scab red and scorched brown, and then highlight with blood red, as you can see on my crisis suit hq: http://www.coolminiornot.com/index.php?id=18825 Maybe I should mix some bleached bone with scab red for some stronger highlights next time...

I think perhaps the highlighting was a bit overdone, as you said... Red is one of the tough colours to highlight properly at any rate. But red & tan is a cool scheme for Tau IMO. The "water" effect on the gun is hard to appreciate in this photo.
