True Warriors need no Armour - MPC Team Entry
Hi everyone, the german theme of the contest was "Wahre Krieger brauchen keine Rüstung", which I translate a bit silly with "True warriors need no armor" for better understanding of our english painting mates ;) Which leads me to a very important point for me: Excusing my miserable english. So, please excuse me, I promise improvement. But let me come to the dio: The little banner on the base explains my interpretation of the competition`s theme: "True warriors need no armor... but they should knew, how its best to give up" Sounds a bit like "The assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford" I knew... Some people let me know, that they think its funny, I suppose they lied. Nevertheless I wanted to bother you a bit with the way I have done this piece: I started with a cylinder of polyamid (a kind of plastic I bought in a hobby store, which sells things for making ships, planes and such things in miniature format - dont ask me for what ship this cylinder is needed). On the Base I apply a great ball of Grey Stuff, but you can use any other putty you like. By hindsight I would have use a putty, which you can thin with water, like Milliput or Magic Sculpt. This ball of putty I gave the form of an overrunned squirrel, so I could stuck diverse pieces of cork into it. I cut, broke and tore the cork to gave it the rough structure of stone. But I still wanted a very comic like look for the dio. Otherwise I would have used completely different materials and not a piece of GW stuff ;) I also wanted to gave the stone the look of growing out of the base, you knwo, some kind of an odd growing stone, which would have been perfect for Gaudi's buildings. I mainly just stucked the cork into the putty, but the smaller pieces had to be glued. For this I used a glue, which is very viscouse and a lot of GF9n's activator. Then I apply a mixture of finde sand, white/ PVA glue, bit of liqid soape and some smaller stones on the base. I needed several layers, to be sure that structured every single littel part of the base, which I applied with various amounts of water. The flag was made of a toothpick, a sharp knife and some parts of my fingers, which includes variouse amounts of blood. I hab the impression, that cursing helps the structure of the wood look mre wood like, but I am not 100% sure. The white snatch was made of paper and a very liquid super glue and of course some activator. All the green stuff, like the shrubs and grasses are from the maxpaint shop (www.maxpaint.de) the producer is Mini Natur. You can get similar ones also from Fredericus Rex and Mini History, but, in my opinion, those from maxpaint are the best ones. It was quite difficult to gave the shrubs their volume. I started with schrubs, that I pressed quite strongly together and hardened with liquid super glue. Then I applied more and more laxly layers of shrubs. In the end I used nearly no glue, and the little flowers where attached without any glue. The shield is an old GW orc shield, which I used, because I wanted a very comic like look for this dio. The spear is from the GW beastmen box, which I used, because I had nothing else, which would have looked better. The head (which nobody saw up to this moment I bet) is from an Warcrow Miniature, Warcrow is produced by Corvus Belli. The paper for the banner was cut out of one of this great brown envelopes. I cut them to the right size, fixed them on a DinA4 paper and printed the slogan on them. After that I weathered them a bit in my toaster and made my breakfast at the same time. Then I kindled my house and layed the paper in the middle, to gave it a nice burned look on the edges. Yeah, and I think, that was it, I hope my little explanations were useful and you could survive this very bad sense of humor, which strikes me every time I get to less sleep. So, enjoy the pictures, please, please, please be so kind to leave an short comment and donate a bit of money to Unicef, so they can finance me, the reconstruction of my house, after you looked on the detail pics, that I will also upload in a few minutes. So, thanks to everyone, who: [] read [] commented [] vote this :) Bye to everyone, Daniel/ Blackbird
