Imperial Fist Captain Ullius

Obviously, this is the Black Reach Captain, which I thought was a nice model. I'm a pretty avarage painter, so I don't expect high marks here, but two things have to be pointed out. First of all, I like Imperial Fists to look yellow! Too many times, I hear people suggest that I start by painting black and use Iyanden Darksun and then add yellow. To me, this always looks like a pale brown, not yellow. Imperial Fists don't hide behind camouflage! ;) My way is to do a couple of coats of Skull white spray for a nice pure white. I then paint in the black carapace on the joints, touching up where necessary. Then I do a couple of coats of Sunburst Yellow for a pure yellow, and shade with a yellow glaze with some firey orange in it. Then the armour is highlighted with Badmoon Yellow and a 50/50 Badmoon/White. My first captain started off with a black cloak, but I found when painting some Veterans, Blue cloaks look much better! One of the other things some people find rather dubious is the green eagles. In fact, it's hard to get photos to come out right and they look far better in green. Bone doesn't stand out enough against the yellow, and I didn't like red because it hid the 3rd Company touches around the shoulderpads. The Captains Banner is one I made myself at 10x size and then had it printed out ata local printers at a 10th size. Sadly the picture of Earth has a bit of a washed out look and not as clar as I'd like, but the normal squad banners came out better. Hope you like them! Cheers Starscream

UM, I think the only thing I can say is that theres way to many colours, bright colours, the yellow is good, but you need to limit the amount of bright colours you use, it looks like something out of playschool goes to war if that existed, the banner is very nice though
