Lizardman Shaman (Repost)

Okay, so that wasn't the last time, :) but this time I waited till I had worked on the paint job before I tried for a better pic. I kicked the highlights up some, and did some freehand runes on the skull at the top of the staff. (first real freehand) As usual, any and all comments welcome.

I like the overall feel to the miniature, especially the selected colors, but I think it suffers from an overuse of inks. The feathers around the head seem dirty as a result, and I think some lighter highlights over much of the figure would bring the details out. I like the chest area, and I think some more careful transitions would have brought this out more. Basically, some horizontal lines going from the darker bone color in the recesses through light bone and finally white at the tips, with each line being so close to the other color that you get a fine gradiation. Finally, a better matte coating would kill the glistening look (especially on the staff; it's not too bad on the lizard skin) See if you can find Testor's dullcoat; very nice stuff. It comes both in a spray and bottle form.
