Bloodthirster/Balrog conversion W.I.P

This guy is something I started back in 2004 just before they released the rules for GD saying you couldn't mix 40k/Fantasy parts with LOTR parts on an entry. I'd spent probably 30 hours greenstuffing and converting, so I wasn't too happy. As a result, I ended up leaving him half finished for a very, very long time and just recently decided to do a little more work to him and get him ready to be painted up. I know it's not the best photo, and I do apologise for that, I will take better ones when he is finished and painted. There are a double row of spines which will be added to the models back armour plates giving him a bit more evil look and I want to add a few more details on kneepads etc. Any comments/tips advice appreciated.

Excellent GS work! My only suggestion would be to make it a bit hairier. The head is great but it's a more lizard/dragon like than snarling blood beast. Keep up the good work though!

That has got to be one of the stoopidest rules GW have ever come up with. I too have come across this when I entered some models in a Golden demon comp but they wouldn't accept them coz the bases weren't green. (Since when do battles take place on cricket pitches, eh!?) Anyway, the model looks excellent so far... I think the snout needs to be a bit more elongated and maybe a bit more snarl-y. Also, a long slavering tongue would look good, maybe forked. Word of caution - be cafefull with those plastic wings coz the long claws snap off really easily.
