1/48 Yamato VF-1J Transforming Toy Repaint

I always loved mechs, so when I came across this fabulous Macross toy I had to buy it, having seen some wonderful repaints. I wasn't disappointed - the detail is superb, on a par with most decent aircraft kits. And it transforms. So, much disassembly, sanding and painting later, I ended up with this. Incidentally, this was my first model done with a dual action airbrush, and my first use of oil washes. Decals are not my design - they were custom done on an ALPS printer by a chap from www.macrossworld.com.

Oddly, this is the design that was erm, borrowed for the G1 Jetfire toy (actually a Bandai mould of the VF-1S). This version is generally regarded as the 'best' toy available of the design - having no visible 'swing bars' for the legs, no removable parts (optionally the hands can be swapped for bigger, removable versions). And it's huge - the bandai one you remember as a kid is nominally 1/55 whereas this is 1/48.

I remember this guy when he was Jetfire from the Transformers G1. This is an awesome re-paint, though. It makes me wish I still had that old toy.
