Working with complimentary colors ... again :)
The figures are from Chronoscope Candy:Anime Heroine and REggie Van Zandt:Space Marine.
The nuts they're standing on are ... nuts.
I had fun doing these.
Thanks ... Apparently the terminology used in miniatures is different from that used in color theory class. Apparently the old adjacent colors are the new complementary colors and the old complementary colors are the new contrasting colors. About contrasting colors ... they are used in color theory and design to set eachother off. As for contrasting colors not going together ... tell that to everyone next Christmas season, and see how far you get.
I will agree that purple/yellow is my least favourite comlementary pair, however, I used them together to complete my color experience ... I had to take on the difficulties of yellow at some point :D
Purple and yellow are CONTRASTING colours, i.e they don't sit together well, complimentary colours are those next to each other on the colour wheel, not those opposite eachother. IE, complementary to yellow would be green or orange, to purple blue or red....
Happy painting
