I've never been in the situation to remove paint from plastics so I can't help you there. What I can help with is your details. Get a green (wash, ink or pain doesn't matter) and make sure it's bright. If you picked up a green paint (snot green for example) dilute it enough to make it act as a wash and wash down on the recessed areas of the "fleshy" leg and body parts. This will give contrasting highlights to the model and make anything else you do stand out. Don't wash the entire model though as that will make it look like you dipped him in a sewer pipe and on a red hue model that never looks good.

soak your plastic mini's in dettol overnight and warm soapy water and a toothbrush will bring that stuff right off without damaging your plastic parts.

I hear you can remove the paint from plastic parts with oxy clean!
