Uruk-hai orc from Heritage

For a fun little project, I tried to give some life to an OLD mini a coworker found in his garage. This little fellow is a 1978 25 mm sculpt from Heritage miniatures (under the name Elan Merch) based on the LoTR movie made at the same time by Bakshi. I believe he is an Uruk-hai orc. The sculpt is quite different from what we have available these days, eh? I did as much as I could to spruce him up--OSL on the eyes (like the movie), weathering on the spearhead, freehand woodgrain and stitching on the tunic, and placed him on a larger base. I hope you enjoy this reminder of how far our hobby has come in the past 30 years! Comments and critiques as always are welcome!

Hi Jabberwocky, fantastic work, this one pushes all the right buttons for me :D Old figure from a crumby film rescued from ignominy by a really sympathetic touch. Spear is nice, fur is nice, eyes are nice but the freehand stitching is the icing on the cake. It's not something I've noticed done before & the effect is excellent, without your advance notice I'd just have assumed it was part of the sculpt. Doesn't seem unreasonable to think that this is the nicest painted example of this mini EVER! Congratulations firmly thrust in your direction, B.

This is great. Can't believe that you were able to stumble across a treasure like this.
