Old Grenadier Barbarian

I really like to collect, own and paint older miniatures. I also really like to paint barbarians, for some strange reason. This one is an exception to a lot of classic models i paint though. Most older models i own are bought recently from eBay, but this particular one i have owned since the early 90's. I bought it in 1993 i believe, but never painted it then because it was too complex a model for me to paint. I wasn't a great painter back then, since i was only around 14 and painted exclusively with old enamels colours. I loved this model and i've kept it ever since, never thinking that i've got enough skill to do it justice. I found this recently among some other models i've owned for a long time but have been tucked away safely. Now it's painted and i will probably use it as a marauder for my warriors of chaos army :D Great fun to paint, hope you like it!

I just picked this guy up myself. Great figure and I really like your take on him. Neutral tones are set off nicely by the blue. Asgard miniatures, btw, not Grenadier, still available from Viking Forge (the whole range). Great early Jess Goodwin sculpts.

Nothing strange about liking to paint barbarians! Nice to see a classic, and painted very well at that. The way you have brought out all the details, especially the face, on what is - or is close to - a true 25mm miniature is outstanding. Barbaric Splendor!!
