My Hero? My monster.
Disclaimer: I don't see Adolf Hitler as my hero in any way Right, now that that is out of the way, Iron Painter is alive once more, and this was my entry for the first round, the theme of which was 'My Hero' My aim with this piece was to show that heroism is two sided, particularily in a wartime situation, and although controversial, I thought using Hitler as an example would be most effective in conveying that point. Hence the split plinth, on one side, a happy and utterly misled Hitler youth, but on the dexter side, the same boy, at the end of the war, as you can see the paper on the floor references the Nuremberg War Trials, it reads: "Nuremberg, tribual, warcriminals, german atrocities" but now he despairs at what he has unwittingly been part of. Perhaps I'm overexplaining, at any rate you as a viewer are more likely to look at the picture and draw your own conclusions before reaching my writeup, I just don't want this to be misunderstood at all. The entire scene was constructed and painted in a three day period after I realised my initial idea wasn't feasable given the deadline (It'll appear at some point), both minis are sculpted from scratch, Greenstuff and Milliput mix, base is plasticard, paper, balsawood, some milliput and lego blocks for the plinths as I couldn't find the plinth I had in mind. The paper and the posters were edited in photoshop, the poster is from a genuine poster scan, the paper is fabricated, and printed out at high resolution before being blended in with paint. Hope you like it, hopefully it'll leave an impression, and hopefully I won't be scored too harshly for the subject matter, but I've made something I'm happy with ultimately, and I can only hope it'll make people think.
