VALTEN Empire Champion

Painted this mini as soon as it came out. The sculpting on this mini is absolutely fantastic! The base I sculpted using "Sculpty" then painted using Shadow grey with 4 highlights. The mini itself is easily slides off from the large base for gaming. I went for a Chrome Stlye Non-Metallic Metal on this mini, it adds a bit of color to the model.

sorry but I don't like the nmm on this one. the colours are wrong and the reflections are wrong as well. When you're painting senmm, you've got to take the angles into calculation. A flat surface doesn't always get the ground - horizon - sky appearance (this is actually rather unusual). A surface that's angled towards the ground should be almost only (if not entirely) ground coloured, whereas the opposite (angled upwards) should be sky coloured. The other big mistake is the colour. The ground colour will always be a reflection of the actual ground, in this case, the ground is gray, and so should the reflection be (not brown as you've painted it). There are quite a lot of tutorials on the internet and here on cmon to learn from. Another point would be that valten doubtfully would chose his hammers to be made out of chrome. The rest of the mini looks good although the transition from the darkest shades could be smoother. Don't take this as harsh criticism, rather a way of learning from this.

Fantastic paint job! Only thing that detracts is the sheild, and not because of the highlights, but because it stands out SO much from the dark base and distracts the eye from the figure itself.
