The High Reclaimer 2010

This is my FIRST real miniature :) Managed to win the first place prize in a local miniature painting contest in small miniature category. I tried applying different techniques I have read about and I guess everyone agrees that reading is not the same as actually experiencing the painting progress. I also gave a shot to creating a base, which is made out of a champagne cork and some white glue for paper, wood etc..

Very commendable result. I've not seen this mini before and he is a corker, isn't he? (pun not intended) I've not got much to say with regards to making the mini better. You've clearly got some skills and time and practice will hone them. For the photo, as well as using the macro function, I recommend setting the camera to maximum zoom when you take the shot, as that creates maximum field depth. This should eliminate those blurry sticky-outy bits.

I am a real board game fan and started painting some of the components found in different board games. My first mini was a Giant figure comming from a board game Descet: Journeys in the Dark. This "mini" was as big as a warmachine heavy warjack, however did not have much details. Later I painted 3 beastmen from the same boardgame, which were considerably smaller. Latar I painted Vipers, Raptors, Raiders and Heavy Raiders in my Battlestar Galactica board game. These were very small (1 centimeter long) but not detailed at all. My finest work so far is the paintjob I've done on my tiny astronauts coming from Galaxy Trucker. I love these little guys and already have over 50 of them painted. You may look at them here (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/690782/plaukai)

THis is not bad at all. I really like the design work on the base - good out-of-the-box thinking. I have to ask, if this is your first real miniature, what else have you been doing?
