Imperial guardsman in winter camo

This is my guardsman that I painted up by following my own guide in this thread. http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums/showthread.php?38976-Weathering-infantry The base is a haste work of plaster mixed with glue, painted with equal parts medium grey and earth (both VMC) with a few drops of super glue to look like ice and some GW snow. My thought where muddy fields in late winter. There has been some thawing and then some frost. Anyway the miniature is the show piece and it is painted to a for me acceptable tabletop standard. Comments are welcome.

have to agree with MadMax, face needs finishing off and the skull/wings on the helme and the gun..yawn. The Base is dull, could have been done a tad better to give it a tabeltop quality feel. Hmm, mini gets a 5, base gets a 3. add together and half it..4

Yes I always like comments on my work. Suggestions on the base and the face and the eagles would be nice. I have not managed yet to paint faces that I like so I have opted for simple for now. I use a mix of VMC Ivory and a flesh colour (can’t remember the name) then wash it with GW Ogryn flesh and the go over with my flesh mix again. Simple and looks ok on the table top. I though about adding colour but I don’t have a clue as for example a red eagle would look nice but I am attempting realism in the miniature so there for I have choosen to not paint any highlights other than a few touches of paint on the leather pieces and then the skin thing. Thanks for taking the time.

You didn't finish the face (at least on the pic I can see just 1 color). The Skull/Wings on the helmet are also boring. You should have chosen a different color. So the mini is just a 3 for me - Sorry. On the other hand the dirt on his clothes and the base, are done in a very simple way, although they look very realistic to me. Therefore you get a 7 from me. So overall it's a 5. If a whole army is painted in such a way it looks good enough on the battlefield.
