Aragorn

This is my first ever completed mini, not bad for a 32 year old :o) Anyway, I did this before I found this site. I didn't know any of the techniques you guys use, NMM, layering, thinning paints, etc. This is done painting straight from the bottle. I would appreciate your comments as I have now completely changed my style and was wondering what you thought of this. Thanks.

Hey there, nice figure to start with :o) Did you use inks? They can sometimes leave a surface looking shiny when they've dried. The hardest part on any figure is the face and I must say, yours is looking pretty good. Nice shading etc, although the hair and beard could do with some highlights to give depth. All in all a good result for your first attempt. Well done! :o)

This is very good for a first mini. The paint still looks wet in places, I don't know if this is why iy looks a bit shiny. You would benefit by differentiating the black areas. Perhaps even as simply as using gloss varnish on the boots and matt on the rest. Some slight highlighting would also help, but this is always a problem with black. Perhaps practice this on your next model? The base needs finishing, perhaps just by a simple wash and a bit of drybrushing. Static grass would also help. Keep it up!
